It’s the battle of the besties on !
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) definitely deserves a vacation after 16 seasons heading up the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Washington D.C. So in Tuesday’s episode, he escaped to his cabin for a little peace and quiet—only to be interrupted by his two best friends. And the pair are not happy that Gibbs has been hiding them from each other all these years.
In a clip shared on Twitter, Gibbs’ buddies, Navy Captain Phillip Brooks (Don Lake) and Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano) meet for the first time, as they both try to crash their friend’s week away.
“Who knew that Gibbs had multiple best friends?” Fornell questions, while Brooks retorts the ever-effective, “It’s funny, he’s never mentioned you.”
Fans of the CBS series recognize Fornell from his multiple appearances throughout the show, and could not get enough of Gibbs’ betrayal. “Gibbs is cheating on Fornell!” one user wrote, with another responding, “Say it ain’t so…”
Other viewers got a kick out of the “bromantic tension” in general, with this follower tweeting, “These two make me laugh SO hard.” Another said, “WOW POSSESSIVE MUCH FORNELL?! BEST FRIEND FIGHT. 😂😂”
The bickering eventually drove Gibbs to leave his retreat behind in search of a robber that was reported loose in the area, according to . (Though that quickly backfired when the two men followed him on his journey.)
But all’s well that ends well: A short hike, a bag of money, and a possible broken leg later, and the trio is as thick as thieves—or at least, they're able to get through a meal together.
