Hallmark aficionados: Meet your new favorite leading men.
Brandon Gray, Daniel Pandolph, and Daniel Thompson are the voices behind the hit podcast, . Together, they review each and every Hallmark Christmas movie as it airs, talking the good, the bad, and, at times, the downright ridiculous moments that each original film has to offer.
Gray, a self-described lover of the programming, tells CountryLiving.com that he “hatched” the plan as a way to get together with his two buddies and watch every week. “This podcast is purely selfish on my part,” he jokes. “And I’m OK with that.”
But now their good-spirited hobby has turned into a full-blown hit amongst viewers, with their show garnering 20,000 listens so far. We can see why: Their various viewpoints—Gray is a huge fan, Thompson “despises” the stories, and Pandolph is somewhere in the middle—make for a hilarious, yet not too over-the-top, recounting of the TV movies that even diehard Hallmark supporters can appreciate.
“We get a lot of interaction with Hallmark fans. Typically, it’s very positive, most seem to get what we’re doing,” Gray says. “Our goal is to try our best to have fun with this without being mean-spirited.”
The stars of the movies are on board, too. The men have hosted Kristoffer Polaha, Andrew Walker, Jesse Hutch, and Jen Lilley on the show so far, and they all agree that there's one actress they have their eye on as a dream guest host: “Candace Cameron Bure, obviously!”
Thompson notes that they’ve laughed a lot, which has “almost made it worth it to have to watch all these movies,” and Pandolph enjoys the “love and outpouring of the people who listen.” Gray, however, is in it for all of the above reasons, plus another surprising one:
“As the guy who has always loved these movies, I’ve had a dream to write one,” he says. “Kris Polaha and Andrew Walker have both been super kind in letting me pick their brains and encourage me as I do something I’ve never done before. We might be reviewing my own movie next year. Who can tell?!”
