'NCIS' Is Renewed for Season 17: Here's Everything We Know

Mark Harmon isn't going anywhere!

The most wonderful time of the year is almost here! And no, we’re not talking about Christmas.

All of our favorite fall TV shows are gearing up to come back, meaning our evenings are about to be filled with series like The Masked Singer, Law & Order: SVU, and Blue Bloods. But the premiere that’s at the top of our must-see list is definitely NCIS.

The Mark Harmon-starred series left us on a major cliffhanger back in May, when it was revealed that Ziva (Cote de Pablo) is not only alive, but in Gibbs’ house, warning him of impending danger. So stressful!

We’re not sure exactly what to expect from season 17—which debuts in a few weeks—but here's what we do know about the upcoming episodes of NCIS.

    When will it premiere?

CBS has graciously revealed that Gibbs and gang will return on Tuesday, September 24 at 8 p.m. EST. You'll want to clear your entire evening, as FBI and NCIS: New Orleans also premiere that night.

    Who will join the cast?

Mark is set to come back as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, as Deadline reports he signed a new agreement with CBS. Considering his roles on the series as both the star and the executive producer have landed him on the highest paid TV actors list, we can see why he wouldn’t want to leave.

It seems Wilmer Valderrama, Sean Murray, and Emily Wickersham will be back as Torres, McGee, and Bishop, respectively. Brian Dietzen and Diona Reasonover are also returning as Kasie and Palmer, making this Diona’s second run as a regular following Pauley Perrette’s exit. While Cote isn’t officially a part of the cast, we also know that we’ll see her in 4 episodes in season 17.

    What can we expect?

A lot, according to a new trailer and the below photos. Gibbs and Ziva look particularly rough as they run from a woman who’s apparently after both of them, while the rest of the group tries to grapple with the news that she’s alive, which is easier for some than others.

Is Cote de Pablo returning to NCIS?

Yes! Ziva will be back again—and for awhile. “This surprise moment is just the beginning,” executive producers Frank Cardea and Steven D. Binder told USAToday. “We are thrilled to share that Cote de Pablo will guest star in the NCIS season 17 premiere this fall as Ziva’s warning to Gibbs unfolds.”

She's also going to appear in three additional episodes, and some are even theorizing that she may eventually replace Gibbs. Only time will tell!
